The Why
I started Temple City in 2018. At that time Rodney and Yvonne along with Temple City Church were just getting the Dream Center up and running. When I heard of what all the DC was going to do for the community, I felt God saying to me, “This is where you can help.” Just knowing there are women and children out there needing a safe place to live touched my heart and I felt a golf fund raiser would be a huge benefit to help achieve that goal. What we do: We hold an annual charity golf tournament at Reedy Creek Golf Course in Four Oaks. All profits go to help fund our Transitions program.

The entry fee includes continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner for morning golfers; lunch and dinner for afternoon golfers; the green fee and cart fee; a goody bag; prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd flight winners; a putting contest; closest-to-the-pin, hole-in-one, and longest drive competitions; and, of course, lots of fun.
About JOCO Dream Center Transition Homes
In North Carolina, 35.2% of women experience domestic violence and stalking in their lifetime, according to the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Children and youth often become the “hidden” victims in homes where domestic violence is present. In 2023, JoCo Dream Center Transitions Home provided 5,898 safe nights to the participants of our program.
As we step into 2024, exciting changes are underway. We’ve rebranded to better reflect our mission and will soon relocate our Transitions Home to a new, dedicated space. However, with this move comes increased financial responsibility. This year, we are setting ambitious goals to raise more funds for the women and children survivors of domestic violence whom we serve.
