JoCo Helps Domestic Violence Survivors
Amber Pleasant, Assistant Director
The Why?
I wanted to come and help at Transitions because I myself am a survivor of Domestic Violence. I spent six years in a very violent and controlling relationship with little to no hope of getting out alive. I wanted to be a part of something that was exactly the hope I had wanted. When we toured the building at the Christmas open house, I had such an overwhelming feeling that so many good things were going to happen through this home. Not only have I witnessed the lives of the women and children that come here be transformed, but I have also experienced my own healing and blessings coming alongside them.
What We Do
The Transitions Home is a safe place for women to take a breath and find time to heal. Our program helps women survivors of Domestic Abuse and Coercive Control and their children, walk through a personal plan to set, and achieve their goals. We empower women to live successful independent lives.
